Dr. Rob Caudwell
Director of general Practice and Digital Strategy
I trained as a GP in Southport in 2004, and have been a GP partner since 2005. I am currently single handed in one practice of 3500 patients, and a partner in another practice of 5,500 patients. I have been involved in healthcare leadership since 2013, from the outset of CCGs, acting as Chair of Southport and Formby CCG from 2014 to it’s disbanding in 2022, and was subsequently appointed to the role of Clinical Director of Sefton Place by Cheshire and Merseyside ICB, which I have held since. I have also been privileged to hold the position of Clinical Director of Southport and Formby Primary Care Network since it’s inception. Over my time as a GP and in leadership roles I have been able to develop an understanding of our local and regional systems and establish relationships across different sectors which I hope to bring to my role in the federation. I work 2-3 days per week in general practice; I feel it is important to continue to be a “jobbing GP” so I understand the pressures practice teams are under and how things are on the ground, and don’t make decisions from an ivory tower, removed from the realities of the current situation in general practice I live in Ainsdale with my wife and 2 “children” (23 & 27!), and outside of work I enjoy tinkering with home IT projects, clay pigeon shooting and sampling the various bars and restaurants I’m lucky enough to have within walking distance in Ainsdale.
